Decent history of black leather jackets,
If you want a pretty thorough history of the black leather jacket, this is a pretty good read. It has a definite British slant to it, but still acknowledges American contributions like Marlon Brando, James Dean, Harleys, etc. If you want something on other types of leather wear, sorry, you won’t find it here. I was hoping there would be coverage of horsehide bomber jackets, i.e., A-2 World War II vintage, but there is scant mention of the subject. You’ll have to look elsewhere if that’s your interest. There are good black and white photos of various leather gear and subculture types from 50′s bikers to new age rockers. A worthwhile purchase in my opinion.
